Biography
As noted above, Yunus is important for his recension of Ibn Ishaa's work, though his version differs from the familiar versions. But what is often forgotten is that Yunus "transmitted materials which do not go back to Ibn Ishaa at all. Yunus was a sira compiler in his own right, whose Ziyadat al-Maghazi was quoted by al-Bayhaki Ibn Kathir and several others."
